Children

Many parents believe that, since juvenile teeth are temporary, they do not require as much care or treatment as adult teeth. The truth is that baby teeth need just as much attention as adult teeth. Problems can arise if baby teeth decay.

The Canadian Dental Association recommends that children have their first dental exam within 6 months of their first tooth eruption or by the time they reach their first birthday; whichever happens first. After their first visit, children should return for another cleaning and examination every six months.

Kids and adolescents have unique dental needs, and as a result, we do not treat them the same way we treat adults. We go above and beyond to ensure your children feel happy, calm, and comfortable throughout their appointment. Our staff has the experience and training necessary to notice any developmental issues with your child’s teeth.

We will communicate with your child in a way that is easy for them to understand; educating them on the importance of good oral hygiene and dental health. Our goal is to take any fear or anxiety out of dentistry, making it an interesting, enjoyable, and educational experience for your children.

Adults

Although your teeth do not undergo nearly as many changes in adulthood as they do during childhood, it’s still important that adults see their dentist every six months for a cleaning and examination. This schedule helps your dental care team maintain a proactive approach to your oral health.

Seniors

The Alberta Dental Association says that poor oral health can be the source of many of the health conditions affecting seniors today, including diabetes, aspiration pneumonia, and heart disease. Without appropriate dental care, patients may even have to contend with a weakened immune defence. It is crucial that seniors see the dentist every six months as a part of their regular health regimen.

Some seniors may think that, since they don’t have any more natural teeth, they no longer need the dentist. The truth is that denture-wearers may actually require more attention, not less. Loose and ill-fitting dentures can cause discomfort and irritation, which may lead to malnutrition.

Nightguards & Mouthguards

Sometimes your teeth require extra protection. Sports like tennis, football, hockey, and many others all have the potential to damage your smile. Even sleeping can be harmful to your teeth if you grind them at night.

Country Hills Dental Centre offers customized mouthguards and nightguards to protect your teeth through any activity. We will create a cast of your teeth, which is used as a template for your guard. Each mouthpiece is custom-made to suit your mouth for the ultimate comfort and protection.
