What is Invisalign?
Of course, your teeth allow you to eat, speak, and perform other tasks. But they are also an important part of maintaining your facial structure. Without teeth in all the right places, your musculature can change, and your jaw bone can lose density.
Even a relatively minor alignment issue, such as teeth overlapping can prevent you from cleaning your teeth properly, putting you at risk for cavities and infection.
Country Hills Dental Center offers Invisalign to correct a variety of orthodontic issues. Request an appointment to find out if Invisalign is right for you.
Invisalign is an orthodontic treatment system which applies precise, calculated pressure to specific teeth, gently shifting them into the correct place over the course of treatment. While Invisalign may offer similar results to traditional braces, many patients find that Invisalign requires less maintenance and less time in the dentist chair.
Traditional braces use brackets, which are adhered to the teeth, and wires, which must be tightened at regular intervals. Invisalign, on the other hand, relies solely on a system of clear plastic aligners. These aligners are custom designed to fit your teeth, applying gentle pressure to shift your bite into the optimal position. You will be given a new aligner every week or two, to ensure ongoing progress.
Some patients report that one of the greatest benefits of Invisalign is its subtlety. The plastic aligners are clear, and therefore relatively difficult to detect. Some teenagers found that they felt more confident with Invisalign than with traditional braces as their appearance was mostly unchanged while undergoing treatment.
Invisalign’s complete lack of metal elements reduces the possibility of injury and allows the wearer more freedom.
